Can Second Life help you with your COVID-19 cabin fever?

Millions of people are limiting their contact with the outside world due to the COVID-19 virus pandemic.

Many of those people are going to be content binge watching TV shows nonstop on a variety of platforms (Netflix, Hulu, Disney+). Others will dig into social media to catch up with old friends and give their opinion on subjects they know next to nothing about (but they will tell you that they more than the experts). A few more people might even take the time to do something creative or bond with the people who they physically share a space with.

For some people, though, the confinement may be stifling. There are many people whose lives center around socializing, whether it be pub crawls or poetry slams. Others fill their lives with experiences, such as concerts and eating out. All of those things, at least in groups larger than ten, are discouraged now.

Then there are people who just like to absorb the world around them, appreciate the natural beauty of nature or the arts created by fellow human. But even those places are closing.

Weirdo who writes futurist-tinged columns about technology and science’s impact on society by night. Unfortunately, 2020 compels me to do politics too.
